Upgrade your next backyard barbecue with these delicious turkey burgers. They’re lean and stay moist with added scallions, celery, and apples.

Serve on a whole wheat bun with lettuce and tomato. Instead of ketchup, try adding mango salsa for extra flavor.

These burgers freeze well and are still great leftover.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup scallions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 3 granny smith apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/8 cup canola oil
  • 4 lbs ground turkey breast
  • salt, to taste
  • black pepper, to taste
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 bunch parsley, finely chopped

The process

  1. Step 1

saute the scallions, celery, and apples in canola oil until tender. Let cool.

  2. Step 2

in a large bowl, add ground turkey, sautéed items, salt, pepper, lemon juice and parsley.

  3. Step 3

    shape into 4 oz burgers.

  4. Step 4

place burgers on preheated, lightly oiled grill. grill on each side for 5 minutes until meat is cooked through.
